How I Met Your Mother was the greatest sitcom to be ever made. It still is known as the greatest sitcom ever. So much so that comparisons are done with Friends, Cheers, TBBT, The Office, and so forth. The show introduced fresh talent in the industry, from Jason Segel. Josh Radnor, Neil Pattrick Harris, Cobie Smulders, and Alyson Hannigan and finally, Cristin Milioti in the form of the mother. Over the course of nine years, the yellow umbrella, the two am theory, past is a damaging mistake, the Arcade, destiny, New York rain, blue french horn, Argentina, Colombia Law School, Wesley all became cult favorites. More importantly, Jason Segel, Neil Pattrick Harris became industry superstars. Others did disappear from the scene mostly. Specifically Josh Radnor and the rest. They just went missing. We may miss the cast of HIMYM, but there sure are plenty of shows that will remind us of it. And we should go and give them a try. The story runs in a non-linear way, Ted is seen talking to his teenage children about how he met their mother. As Ted begins to recollect his life at 26 and how it led him to meet their mother, Lilly, Marshall, and Robin join in. As do various supporting characters. Here are ten shows we know you’d like if you love HIMYM.

Friends

Okay, so this one is a little too out there. But here’s the thing: there is no other show that matches HIMYM more than Friends does! First off, HIMYM is directly inspired by Friends! The amazing couple, lead-turned-professor, a ladies’ man, and a hot chick who shifts between the ladies’ man and the lead. Friends is known as the greatest sitcom to be ever made. And there isn’t anything that will ever measure up to it. Six twenty-somethings in New York City, yep that’s the show we are talking about. The cast is led by Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and finally, David Schwimmer.

Freaks And Geeks

Freaks and Greeks is just one of those feel-good shows that shows everything but misery. So that makes it a perfect watch for this quarantine. It is an American show of course, and it is created by Paul Feig and executive-produced by Judd Apatow. The show is kind of like Breakfast Club and you will love it once you see how closely it mirrors the movie. It is basically about a gifted high schooler Lindsay Weir, and her story as she befriends a gang of slackers known as freaks. The show stars a bunch of kids, Linda Cardellini as Lindsay Weir, John Francis Daley as Sam Weir, James Franco as Daniel Desario, Samm Levine as Neal Schweiger, Seth Rogen as Ken Miller, Jason Segel as Nick Andopolis, Martin Starr as Bill Haverchuck, Becky Ann Baker as Jean Weir, Joe Flaherty as Harold Weir, Busy Philipps as Kim Kelly.

Master of None

Master of None stars Aziz Ansari in the lead role. It is based on his life as well. Ansari’s real-life experiences are key to the show. He plays the role of Dev, who is a New York-based actor, infected with a serious case of an identity crisis. He is struggling to know what he really wants, both in his personal and professional life. Master of None is a Netflix original with three Emmys and one GG.

Rules of Engagement

Rules of Engagement is one of the shows that will easily remind you of a show like HIMYM. How, do you ask? Well, first off, the show HIMYM begins with Lily and Marshall getting engaged. Rules of Engagement is kind of like the same. Very much like HIMYM, it is about there are flexible and inflexible rules of dating, marriage,  and commitment. Mostly the show is about the complications that come with each of these things. The commitment complications being the most difficult ones. Rules of Engagement aired on CBS not very long ago– from February 5, 2007, to May 20, 2013. Through two couples and their friends, we are given a peek into each of the engagement problems described above! The cast is led by Patrick Warburton, Megyn Price, Oliver Hudson, Bianca Kajlich, and David Spade.

Seinfeld

One of the greatest sitcoms of the 1980s, Seinfeld is the brain-bubble of Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld. Jerry practically stars as himself in the show, as a comedian who does stand-up in New York and various places around the world. Seinfeld may or may not be about Jerry’s experiences from the early days as a stand-up guy, but here’s the thing: Kramer, Jerry’s looney neighbor was actually a neighbor of Larry David. George Costanza is Jerry’s temperamental best friend and Elaine Benes is Jerry’s best friend. They just used to date in the past but are good friends now. The show touts itself to be a show about nothing. Seinfeld is led by a cast of Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, Julia-Louis Dreyfus, and Michael Richards.

Now this one is a diverse addition in the list! Coupling is a British TV series created by the same guy behind Sherlock, Steven Moffat. It aired on BBC2 from 12 May 2000 to 14 June 2004. All this life he dreams of meeting the girl of his dreams, and when that happens odd things happen! The girl is Zelda, a lawyer by a professional who is polar apart from the mother who raised her.
