Top 10 Songs of Billie Eilish:

She has many noteworthy songs which captivate the listener’s mind. Her alluring voice and the hauntingly beautiful songwriting keep you glued to your headphones until you’ve finished listening to her songs, at least 100 times – at least, that was the case with me. It is very, very hard to put up a scale and write down her songs in order, and harder to choose just 10 songs, but this is me trying. The list has been influenced by how many views their youtube videos’ views and what number they peaked at according to the billboard and a little bit of my own bias.

10. all good girls go to hell

This song is a part of her debut studio album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? It is a song that deals with climate change and the destruction of Earth by human beings. It debuted at no. 46 on US Billboard Hot 100 and peaked under top 5 in 4 countries, internationally. The song starts with an iconic line: My Lucifer is lonely.

9. OCEAN EYES

The vocals add to the beauty of the music and the lushness. It depicts heartbreak in a beautifully lonesome way, a way that makes you want to love the person more, even though you know how that may end. Also, the song reached No. 178 on the Billboard Global 200. It is now 3x certified platinum in the USA. Basically, here you can see Billie Eilish drawing a comparison to her love and the ocean. Just like the ocean can sometimes be calm, loving, and giving, and other times it can be fierce, unforgiving, and cruel, so is her love.

8. When The Party’s Over

Often dubbed as one of Billie’s saddest songs, When the Party’s Over is a single belonging to her second album, When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? The song was written and produced by her brother, Finneas, who was leaving a date’s house after the end of their relationship; how he was simultaneously happy and sad. One can basically say the song is about the deterioration of a relationship and its inevitable but freeing end.  The song peaked at 67 in the yearly billboard chart of Billboard Hot 100. It has received 4x platinum certification in the US.

7. everything I wanted

This one’s a tear-jerking, extremely triggering song (TW: Suicide). This song was nominated for the Grammys as well. As the melodious piano plays, with the sad beats of the instruments, Eilish sings about a nightmare she had. This was about her death by suicide. In its undertones, the song talks about her superstardom and how even being famous cannot stop her from harming herself; or that her fame cannot cure her mental health. The song peaked at No. 82 on 27th March 2021 on Billboard Global 200. It won the Grammy for Record of the Year 2021 and several other nominations. 6. lovely (Billie Eilish and Khalid)

The song is about depression and how Billie and Khalid together try to overcome it. Lovely talks about how depression keeps coming back and how we try our best to drive it away, but sometimes it’s there to stay. How when we are depressed, we tend to hide from everyone and try to find solace in the numbness of being truly alone. The song peaked at No. 70 on Billboard Global 200. It also ranked on Rolling Stone’s year-end chart on No. 62

5. you should see me in a crown

Released in 2018, the song is inspired by an episode of the BBC series “Sherlock.” Herein, the villain, Jim Moriarty says, “Honey, you should see me in a crown.” Billie and her brother Finneas are huge fans of the series and decided to make the song. You should see me in a crown is a very motivational song. The song basically talks about how she is all-powerful and how other’s shouldn’t just judge her on her beauty alone.

4. your power

Your Power is the 3rd single of her upcoming second studio album, Happier Than Ever. It has garnered over 80 million views on YouTube within a month. On US Billboard 100 chart, your power has ranked at No. 10. The song talks about how younger people are taken advantage of in relationships. While talking about what inspired her to write the song, she revealed that it is one of her favourite songs. It shows a very vulnerable part of her. The main theme, she says is, that you should try not to abuse the power you have.

3. bury a friend

bury a friend belongs to When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (2019). The song has layers of vocal effects, which provide a haunting effect to the whole song. The MV looks like it’s straight out of a horror movie. Some people think that the song is about (TW) death. While Billie Eilish herself said that the song is about the Monster Under Her Bed, which also might she herself. The monster wonders why Billie is still with her, and all the negative things it’s telling her is a part of the song.

2.  Therefore I Am

Therefore I Am is the 2nd single off her album Happier Than Ever. The song was so heart-warmingly received that some critics even compared it to her song, “bad guy.” It is Billie’s way to tell her haters, those who comment on her body and fat-shame her, to f**k off. She is calling out all those people who try to tell her what to do, thinking that they know her more than she knows herself. She revives Descartes‘ famous saying, “I think therefore I am,” and tells others to stop thinking for her because she can think for herself.
